Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
This policy covers the DanceDeets family of dance-discovery services operated by Mike Lambert ("we", "us"): the DanceDeets Tutorials website at dancedeets.com, and DanceDeets Battles, our street-dance tournament archive tooling and website (together, the "Services"). Both Services help people discover publicly available dance videos hosted on YouTube.
Use of YouTube API Services
The Services use YouTube API Services. By using the Services you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information handled via YouTube API Services is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
What YouTube data we access
- Publicly available metadata only: playlist titles and contents, video titles, video ids, durations, video descriptions, channel names, and publicly posted top-level comments.
- We do not request access to any Google or YouTube user account. The Services use API-key access only — no OAuth, and no "authorized data" from any user. We never see or store your YouTube watch history, subscriptions, or account information.
How we use and store that data
- We organize public video metadata into browsable structures: tutorial listings, tournament brackets, event archives, and competitor indexes. Each derived page links back to the original video and channel on YouTube.
- All video playback happens in the official YouTube embedded player. We do not download, re-host, or modify any video content. When you play an embedded video, YouTube may collect data as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Stored API metadata is refreshed or deleted within 30 calendar days, in accordance with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies. Videos that are deleted or made private on YouTube are removed from the Services during refresh.
Data deletion requests
If you would like metadata connected to you (for example, your name in a video title we display, or a video from your channel) removed from the Services, or have any other privacy question, contact us at optout@dancedeets.com. We will action removal requests within 30 calendar days. You can also control the underlying data at its source: edits or deletions you make on YouTube propagate to the Services at the next refresh (30 days at most).
Data we collect from visitors
- Our web servers keep standard, short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and debugging.
- The Services embed content from YouTube; YouTube's own cookies and data collection apply inside the embedded player as described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke any access previously granted to Google services at Google security settings.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. Public YouTube metadata is displayed only within the Services, attributed and linked to its source on YouTube.
Changes
We may update this policy as the Services evolve; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
